Sustainable Development and Climate Change

In spite of existing high levels of economic integration between the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the potential benefits of coordinated policies coming out of these three countries—those promoting a transition toward a low carbon regional economy—have been studied very little. One of the objectives of CEDAN’s Program on Sustainable Development and Climate Change is to promote research that analyzes incentives for cooperation that strengthen the fight against climate change in a context of North American energy interdependence; likewise, the challenges facing regional governance and other aspects such as the action strategies of sub-national players and those of megacities. Apart from promoting a plural dialogue on these issues, and related applied research, this program places particular emphasis on training carried out through face-to-face workshops, and through innovative instruments such as virtual educational programs.
