About CEDAN

The CEDAN recognizes the importance of regional competitiveness, but also the welfare of its citizens; these should be key elements in the development of public policy, as well as in the promotion of business and regional cooperation. With this in mind, the CEDAN seeks to facilitate the development of a North American agenda in four strategic areas:

Competitiveness and social welfare in Mexico, and in the region as a whole

Sustainable development, climate change, and energy interdependence Labor markets, labor mobility, and human capital Border security and economic integration

1. The main objective of CEDAN is to provide a space for dialogue and analysis, encouraging the creation of a coherent vision of the region’s future, a vision that considers the challenges and opportunities offered by the world’s economic and political situations.

2. The second objetive of  CEDAN seeks to promote interest in issues related to North America within the academic community, and among Mexicans. This is done through events, conferences, and round table discussions—always ensuring that Mexican perspectives are heard and represented in the various forums where North American topics are discussed.

3. The third objective of CEDAN is to generate systematic and multi-disciplinary analysis employing research groups from within the Tecnológico de Monterrey, as well as academic institutions from the greater region, with the goal of incorporating such research into the development of innovative public policy proposals that encourage North American cooperation.

4. The four objective of CEDAN is to actively take part in the training of future North American leaders, and of current leaders who, today, are defining the region’s future. For that reason, the CEDAN vigorously promotes the participation of university students in all its programs; it has designed specialized courses on North America for the graduate programs of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. The CEDAN also has a fellowship program for resident and non-resident experts on the United States and Canada to support academic activities by designing and teaching executive-level courses to bring public officials, business executives, media representatives, and the public up to date on strategic and current North American issues.

5. Finally, the CEDAN seeks to inform interested parties about its activities through its bilingual website, and a publication entitled North American Voices, distributed electronically throughout the region, and via newspapers, special reports, and articles in academic journals, as well as in the mass media in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
